Product Description
Soft and easy to shape, Specialist Crafts Terracotta Air Drying Clay is a winner.
It contains just a small amount of nylon fibres which give the clay its integral strength allowing the clay to be air dried. The dry clay can then be decorated with acrylic or gouache paints and finished off with a gloss varnish to add to the strength and give the paint a glossy finish.
Alternatively, if you wish to kiln fire this clay, it can be fired up to 1200°C and even used with traditional kiln glazes. As with all clays to be kiln fired, ensure that the clay is wedged well to remove air bubbles and dried slowly and thoroughly before going into a kiln.
Softer clays contain more water which means the shrinkage rate will be slightly more than firmer clays.
